BEST BETS RECAP

Finnelytics Best Bets went 0-2 on the week. YTD: 3-2 (60%) All-Time 25-10 (71%)

PITTSBURGH (-21.5) vs Syracuse

Pittsburgh's defense played phenomenal once again except for a long bomb on 3rd down for Syracuse's lone touchdown. The offense, however, showed the issues they were having a year ago. The lack of explosiveness and timely conversions made it tough for the Panthers to put up points. Special teams also did not help Pitt with a couple of putrid field goal attempts.

Final score: Pittsburgh 21 - Syracuse 10 (Failed to cover by 10 points)

OKLAHOMA STATE (-23) vs Tulsa

Spencer Sanders went down with an ankle injury in the Cowboy's first drive and the offense was just not going to get the job done once that happened. The defense actually played very well and with Sanders in the game I still think Oklahoma State was the right side of the bet. However, with that said the Cowboys offensive line looked very concerning as well.

Final score: Oklahoma State 16 - Tulsa 7 (Failed to cover by 14 points)

LOW CONFIDENCE BETS

Low confidence bets went 1-1 this week. YTD: 3-1 (75%)

LOUISIANA TECH (+5) vs Southern Miss

Not only did Louisiana Tech cover, but with their late-game heroics, they also won outright.

Final score: Louisiana Tech 31 - Southern Miss 30 (Covered by 6.5 points)

GEORGIA TECH (+7.5) vs Central Florida

This final score looks much worse than how the game played out. Georgia Tech pulled within 7 early in the 4th quarter before the Knights put up 3 straight touchdowns to finish the game. The Jackets defense was very concerning as they gave up over 600 yards of offense. However, the offense also turned the ball over 5 times. Not a great recipe for any team, especially against a dynamic offense like UCF.

Final score: Georgia Tech 49 - UCF 21 (Failed to cover by 20.5 points)

WEEK 4 STOCK REPORT

STOCK UP

Boston College

A solid first game for the new-look Eagles. Notre Dame QB transfer, Phil Jurkovec gave BC's air attack a breath of fresh air after years of average play. Their defense looked great, holding Duke to just 6 points and picking off Chase Brice a couple of times. Overall, just a solid 1st performance of the year that landed 10th in the Best Performances of the Week.

Miami

The excitement has definitely arrived. Miami is looking like a completely different team from a year ago. Their offense is absolutely electric, both through the air and on the ground. Or, is Louisville's defense still bad? That could be too, but none the less, Miami is on the rise for sure.

STOCK DOWN

Louisville

The Cardinal's defense must improve if they want to compete with the upper-tier teams. The offense still has plenty of firepower, but it really will not matter if the defense continues to perform like they did this past Saturday.

Duke

The opposite is the case for the Duke Blue Devils. Even with Clemson QB transfer, Chase Brice, the offense did not look good. An offensive Game Score of just 31 against a BC team whose defense ranked among the worst in the conference a year ago. Not a good look for the Blue Devils.

Oklahoma State

If Spencer Sanders is not healthy it is going to be a long year for the Cowboys. Even if he is healthy, the way their offensive line played against Tulsa, it may still be a long year. Their defense, however, was impressive.

Florida State

Florida State did not even play this week and still landed on the stock down report. The way Georgia Tech's defense got lit up by Central Florida made the performance by the Seminoles last week even worse. Their offensive line is still a huge issue.
