BEST BETS RECAP

Finnelytics Best Bets went 3-0 on the week. A solid start to the year. Now 25-8 (76%) all-time.

Louisville (-11.5) vs Western Kentucky

Besides Lousiville's horrendous special teams play, the Cardinals dominated. The Hilltoppers average yards per touchdown drive was 14. FOURTEEN yards. Louisville offense appeared to be a little rusty but the explosive plays were certainly still there.

Duke @ Notre Dame UNDER (54)

This pick felt pretty safe from the jump. The lack of playmakers for the Irish was noticeable and their offensive line did not really dominate as expected either. Chase Brice had a solid debut for the Blue Devils, but at the end of the day, his numbers did not really come out impressive. Ending 20-37 for about 250 yards, just an average day. Both teams struggled on 3rd down and the defenses were in control of the whole game.

Army (-19.5) vs UL-Monroe

Army impressed for the second straight week. Their offense had an elite matchup and honestly did not perform as well as expected. However, 37 points were plenty. Their defense was once again the most impressive unit, holding ULM to just 7.

Two more wins came from the 2 extra bets where Finnelytics models did not align.

Pittsburgh (-27.5) vs Austin Peay

The game was never in doubt. The Gov's offense had no chance. Obviously AP is an FCS foe, but Pittsburgh looked very impressive and should be a very solid, well-balanced team.

North Carolina (-23.5) vs Syracuse

Overall, I came away unimpressed by the Tar Heels honestly. This Syracuse team should be a bottom dweller in the ACC and UNC was up just 10-6 headed into the 4th. They did manage to cover after a great 4th quarter but the overall performance has to be a tad concerning. Blame it on rust if you want, we shall see. The defense was impressive on the other hand, but keep in mind that this Cuse offense is nothing special and could have the worst OL in the conference.

WEEK 3 STOCK REPORT

STOCK UP

Georgia Tech

Lead by true freshman QB Jeff Sims, the Jackets went into Tallahassee and took down the Seminoles. A Florida State team who has received a ton a hype which I mentioned in my ACC Preview that I am not sure where the hype is coming from. Anyways, the Jackets took advantage of a weak FSU O-Line and really dominated defensively.

Miami

The Canes were incredible on the ground. UAB is not a cupcake of a G5 team, and Miami managed to put up over 300 yards on the ground.

STOCK DOWN

Iowa State

The Clones were just dreadful on offense. The lack of Charlie Kolar could be to blame, but they still should have been much better than that, finishing with an offensive Game Score of just 47 per Finnelytics. Their defense actually was pretty good, however.

Kansas State

KSU started off hot but really had a poor game all around. Arkansas State was with them the entire game and the Wildcats finished with Game Scores of 44 and 52 on offense and defense respectively. Not a great start, but really not surprising given the lack of offensive weapons.

Kansas

They still stink.

Texas Tech

The defense was horrific. Raiders gave up over 500 yards of offense to Houston Baptist, if this continues they will have a long year in the BIG12.

Florida State

Their offensive line is still a huge issue. Defensively they looked very good, however.
